(Minneapolis, MINN—March 29, 2012) The EcoMedia Division of CBS and the Forest Stewardship Council U.S. announce a new partnership today to fund environmental initiatives.

The partnership between the Forest Stewardship Council U.S. and EcoMedia will work to increase financing for urgent, yet underfunded, environmental initiatives. Under the terms of the agreement, FSC will source environmental conservation projects nationwide; corporate advertisers affiliated with EcoMedia’s innovative EcoAd program will provide necessary funding. Key projects will include family forest initiatives, watershed protection, and climate change mitigation.

“We commend EcoMedia for its determination to fund responsible forest management through its EcoAd program,” said Corey Brinkema, President of FSC U.S. “We welcome this opportunity to partner with EcoMedia and the advertisers of CBS to drive improvements on the ground in forests all across America. We know they share our belief that we have a duty to use our forest resources responsibly, both today and on behalf of future generations,” added Brinkema.

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with FSC, a pioneer in the public-private partnership sector, and an organization with a long and distinguished history of success,” explains Paul Polizzotto, President and Founder of CBS EcoMedia Inc. “This alliance gives our EcoAd program national reach, and we are proud to be able to fund environmental initiatives on such a large scale,” Polizzotto concluded.

About Forest Stewardship Council U.S.
The Forest Stewardship Council is an independent nonprofit organization that promotes environmentally sound, socially beneficial, and economically prosperous management of the world’s forests. FSC was created in 1993 to help consumers and businesses identify products from well-managed forests. FSC sets standards by which forests are certified, offering credible verification to people who are buying wood and wood products. Because FSC is the gold standard for forest stewardship, it is the only certification system supported by the greater environmental community. More than 4,000 companies and 35 million acres of forestland are certified under FSC standards in the United States (140 million acres are FSC certified in North America). About CBS EcoMedia Inc.
At EcoMedia, we’re propelled by the desire to create positive social change; that's been our mission since we founded the company in 2002. In 2008, after successfully partnering with CBS on a wide-range of environmental projects, we became the newest addition to the CBS Corporation portfolio, exponentially scaling our reach across television, radio, interactive, publishing and outdoor media.

Through our patent-pending EcoAd program, an innovative twist on traditional advertising, advertisers are able to support much-needed local environmental projects which, in turn, creates jobs, saves taxpayer money, and improves the environment. In the process, we’ve fundamentally altered the advertising landscape, elevating the ordinary commercial — and media, in general — into a catalyst for tangible, quantifiable social change.

We invite you to visit ecoad.cbs.com to learn more about the improvements EcoMedia is making in communities across the country.

By participating in the EcoAd program, EcoAd advertisers agree to provide funding for projects we believe will benefit the environment.
