Kim Carstensen Appointed FSC Director General |

On July 24, the FSC International Board of Directors announced that Kim Carstensen was appointed Director General, starting October 1. Carstensen will succeed Andre de Freitas, who has led FSC International for the past five years. A global search identified a pool of many potential candidates, from which Carstensen emerged as the right leader for FSC. Bringing 20 years of executive experience with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Carstensen has played a number of leadership roles, including Director of the WWF Global Climate Initiative and General Secretary of WWF Denmark. While his work with FSC has not yet begun, FSC US has already invited Carstensen to visit the US and Canada this fall. Once we can confirm the timing of his visit, we will update our community about opportunities for participation in meetings or social gatherings. For now, we wish to extend a hearty congratulations to Kim on behalf of the members, certificate holders, board and staff of FSC US. We look forward to growing FSC together.
