FSC-US is calling for nominations for three available board positions: one economic chamber, one social chamber, and one environmental chamber. The success of the FSC system is due in part to the three-chamber membership governance, each of which shares 1/3 of the voting power and influence. From this base, FSC draws its Board of Directors, a group that has the important job of representing respective chambers and issues, and working closely with the FSC-US staff to ensure effective oversight of the organization and to develop strategic objectives, tactics, and policies. In addition, the FSC-US Board plays an important role in FSC globally and works on many important issues affecting the broader FSC family. The elected FSC-US Board is comprised of nine individuals who are drawn from and elected by FSC Members in the U.S. Each of the three chambers has three elected representatives on the Board, and each Board member serves a three-year term. In a typical year, three Board member positions, one from each chamber, are open for election. Only FSC members, duly designated FSC representatives of member organizations in the U.S., or applicants for membership in good standing can be nominated for election to the FSC-US Board. FSC-US members will receive a formal call for board nominations within the next week. If you are interested in becoming a member, you can find information on the FSC-US website.
